How to configure the 1747-UIC
Plug in your new cable, Windows will pop up with a screen on the right side stating that new hardware has been found and you need to install the software for it to run properly.
If you have used a similar cable on this PC you may need to update the drivers, below you will find the old drivers that may need to be updated.
Install the CD or extract downloaded drivers and click on update drivers
You may have to install the driver twice..... it’s a Windows issue, but just follow the directions on the screen... if you get another pop up saying that it has found new hardware and that you need to install the software again... it's normal.
Next will be to configure the UIC for RSLinx. This will be used for a 5/00, 5/01, 5/02 and 5/03 via the USB port on your PC, you will need a newer version of RSlinx
If you have not done so.... Click on the link and download
You will need to register, but the download is free RSLinx lite, below you will find the one that I am using
9355WAB100ENE 2.54.00 General Release
Open RSLinx and add DH485 UIC devices
Find the USB port that your PC is using, you can do this by clicking on your Windows Start then Control Panel, now open the System folder and open the hardware tab, click on Device manager and scroll down to Ports (COM & LPT) and click the + sign... mine shows up as USB Serial Port (Com 8) yours may be the same or NOT.
If you unplug your cable and plug it into a different port on your PC you may get another number so use the same port when possible or follow the above to find to what port your adapter is assigned.
After selecting the correct port, you should be able to see your PLC active in RSWho
We always test every cable with the above procedure before we ship them out... and as with all of the items we sell, they have a 30 day money back guarantee.
Below you will find the setup for the RS232 side of the adapter
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE AUTO CONFIGURE WILL NOT WORK (same as the 1747-UIC from Allen Bradley)
Stop the UIC and add a RS232- DF1 driver, you will also need to move the switch on the side of the cable adapter from DH to RS232
Click add new, below you will see the settings that are needed for the MicroLogix
