HMI and SCADA
A Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is used to connect a human to an industrial machine which is usually controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). This can be used to operate a piece of manufacturing equipment or check and adjust parameters.
SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. It is similar to an HMI but usually larger in scale including tying into information networks to make decisions, remote monitoring, logging, and more advanced features.
